Good Medicine: Traditional Dress
I bought these t-shirts today. The colors are so lush and sumptuous, I'm tempted to cut them up and make something else out of them -- a wall hanging or a crocheted rag rug or a quilt for the bed. They seem too beautiful to wear and wear out.
Click on the photo to lose yourself in the colors!

Dailymotion interview with Vincent D'Onofrio about Staten Island

"Staten Island"
The film is tries too hard to be offbeat but ends up mostly stupid. Of course I resented the depiction of SI as the homeland of urban idiocy, then I remembered that's why *I* left it. Still, I loved seeing the Ferry, and Victory Blvd, and the Manhattan skyline glimpsed through an ugly tangle of power lines. I heart NY!

noticings
There's a little online photo game called noticings. It's about, uh, noticing stuff. The idea is to notice something, photograph it for the game, post the photo on flickr, tag it noticings, and geotag it. Meaningless points are awarded for various arbitrary reasons -- first time post, first post from that neighborhood, misspelled stuff, lost stuff, etc. Info can be found on the noticings blog and the game is played from the noticings dashboard.
Here are my first two offerings.

Outpouring of affection for 'Deadliest Catch' Captain Phil Harris
Outpouring of affection for 'Deadliest Catch' Captain Phil Harris
Fuck. He seemed like a crusty, lovable sweetheart. I'm miss seeing him on the Cornelia Marie. My condolences to his family.

More of the same.
Here are a few snaps from recent photo cruises around the Old East Hill neighborhood in Pensacola.
I have a thing for crisp, white buildings. And repetitive patterns. (Is that phrase redundant?) And stairs. And windows. Frames. Diagonals. Textures.
I wonder if fascination with these things is common to all photographers?
